11月3日〜5日、ダラムサラ（インド）において第8回「チベット支援団体国際会議」が開催されました。参加された当会副代表・小林秀英師より、現地でのレポートが届きましたので、３回に分けてご紹介いたします。

4th Nov. Mon. The second day of the 8th International Conference of Tibet Support Groups. All of the participants were supposed to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama and went to the palace. After precise security check we entered the audience hall.

It’s quite common for everyone to sit as near His Holiness as possible. But Asians are likely to be too much modest. Naturally westerners sit in front row and Asians sit in back. Then Sikyon came in and told us. “ Speakers and moderators sit in the first row. Asians are next. Westerners sit in back rows. “I was a moderator at the yesterday’s session. So I could sit in the front row. Japanese participants sat on the second row.

Soon His Holiness came in. Sikyon introduced the participants in the front row. I was introduced as a participant from Japan. His Holiness nodded and said “ I know. I know.” After he sat on the chair, he started to talk. He watched my eyes and started “ Tibet is never, ever a part of China.” As if he talked only to me, he continued to watch my face.

I nodded to him and began weeping. Maybe His Holiness recognized me weeping. He continued to talk about Japanese topics and memories in Japan. Later I asked Japanese participants if they could notice His Holiness was only talking to me. They said they could notice it from the back. He maybe treated Japan as special. It’s a Great Blessing.

11月4日(月)、第8回チベット支援団体国際会議2日目。参加者全員が法王様にお目通りが叶うと言うことで、法王庁へ向かう。細かい保安チェックを受けた後に会見場に入った。

誰でも出来るだけ前の列で、法王様のお顔を拝顔したいのは心情だ。しかし東洋人はどうしても遠慮がちになる。自然と前の方は西洋人、後ろの方は東洋人になる。そこにセンゲ首相が入って来られて、最前列はスピーカーと司会者、次に東洋人、その後ろに西洋人と席順を指示された。私は昨日の公開フォーラムの司会者であった為に、最前列に席を得た。2列目に日本からの参加者が座った。

やがて法王様が入って来られると、最前列の人はセンゲ首相が一人一人紹介した。私も日本からの参加者と紹介された。法王様は小さな声で、「I know. I know.」と頷かれた。法王様は席に着かれると、私の顔を注視されて「Tibet is never, ever a part of China.」と言われた。まるで私一人に話しておられるように、私の目を目つめたまま話を続けられた。

私は相槌を打つように頷きながら、涙が流れた。恐らく法王様も私の涙に気がつかれたと思う。法王様はそのまま日本について思い出話をされて、最初の10分位は日本の話をされた。後ほど日本人の参加者に聞いたところ、後から見ていても法王様が私一人に話をしておられるのが分かったそうだ。日本を特別扱いして下さったのだろう。感激である。
